Citroën Metropolis Concept

Citroën has revealed the Metropolis Concept, a sleek luxury sedan concept car that pays homage to China's development. Designed by the company's Shanghai-based design team, the Metropolis will debut at the Shanghai World Fair in May.

Metropolis’ hybrid drivetrain utilises an optimised 2-litre V6 petrol engine and a 7-speed, dual-clutch electronic gearbox.

At low speeds, Metropolis runs in Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) mode, with its electric motor developing a continuous 55bhp (40kW), peaking at 95bhp (70kW).

At steady speeds on main roads and motorways, the petrol powerplant efficiently provides 272bhp (200kW) and 375Nm of torque.

When additional performance is required, such as during overtaking, the car uses both the electric motor and the combustion engine to deliver a maximum power output of 460bhp (345kW) and 430Nm of torque - equivalent to a 4-litre V8 petrol engine.

There’s also a four-wheel drive mode for when extra grip is needed.

Citroën Survolt Concept

At the 2010 Geneva Motor Show Citroën has presented the Survolt Concept, a compact 2-seater coupé with an electric powertrain and an original design language that combines inspirations from the motor-racing and the high-fashion worlds.

The Survolt has compact and sporty dimensions: it is 3.85 m long, 1.87 m wide and just 1.20 m high.

The distinctive profile features sculpted flanks, large wheels framed by impressive wheel-arches and a U-shaped character line that defines the lower and upper edges of the side doors and visually separates the rear end from the central section, with some reminescences of the Bugatti Veyron.

Citroën DS High Rider Concept

Citroën has released the first details on the DS High Rider Concept that will be unveiled at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. It is the second concept associated with Citroën's innovative and distinctively styled DS line.

The Citroën DS High Rider Concept represents a vision of the future, combining compact dimensions - it is 4.26m long, 1.82m wide & 1.48m high - with generous internal volumes, dynamic performance and sophisticated style.

Unlike traditional 4-seater coupés, with their long, low design, the Citroën DS High Rider Concept is compact and muscular.

Powering the Citroën DS High Rider Concept is an advanced 'Full Hybrid' diesel drivetrain that combines a refined HDi DPFS engine under the hood with an electric motor located on the rear axle.

Citroën REVOLTe Concept

The Citroën REVOLTe Concept is a sophisticated hybrid urban vechicle inspired by the 2CV. The exterior design features sculpted sides with rear-hinged doors, whicle the colorful futuristic interior has a three-seats layout and resembles a modern lounge.

Inspired by the 2CV, REVOLTe takes the key attributes of Citroën’s timeless and iconic classic and turns them on their head a clear example of Citroën looking to the future by taking inspiration from its cool past.

Where the 2CV was plain and neutral, REVOLTe is luxurious and colourful; where the 2CV was basic and simple, REVOLTe is intelligent and technologically advanced and where the 2CV was slow and bouncy, REVOLTe is lively and spirited.

Rear-hinged doors provide easy access to the multi-coloured cabin, with woven black leather, thick crimson velvet and gleaming aluminium.

REVOLTe’s bright colours and luxury styling reflects Citroën’s bold creativity and the desire to modernise notions of conventional car design.

Thanks to iridescent, glossy colours, silky smooth textiles and sophisticated materials, REVOLTe has a vibrant, dare-to-be-different interior that throws tradition aside.

The original and distinctive three-seater layout - driver’s seat to one side with two passenger seats behind it - is designed to resemble a lounge, with the rear seats taking the form of a contemporary sofa.

With a design philosophy of sophistication and the use of environmentally responsible technology, REVOLTe’s re-chargeable hybrid power-train features a small-capacity conventional combustion engine combined with an electric motor and a battery re-charging function. It also provides the option of CO2-free driving with the ability to run in all-electric ZEV (Zero Emission Vehicle) mode.

Citroën Concept, the new 2CV or C2 hatchback?

Citroën has released a teaser image of a new compact concept car with a dynamic bold look that will debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show together with the new C3 and the DS3.

According to the first rumors the sporty car could be a modern interpretation of the 2CV or a new C2 hatchback.

The Citroën Eclipse Concept is a research study of a cost efficient, eco-friendly futuristic car which uses nano technologies to absorb the infrared energy emitted from the sun after sunset. The designer is IED graduate Vladislav Domanin.

Citroën Eco-Luxury Sedan

The Citroën Eco-Luxury Sedan is a design study for a futuristic luxury vehicle which features a 1+2 seating layout, an electric powertrain and a textured glass-roof. It was created by Coventry graduate Ankit Prashar.

As Ankit explains "The concept behind the project was to create a vehicle that could offer extravagant levels of luxury to its passengers and yet be sustainable”.

"The exterior design of the car provides a fresh take on the Citroen design language. The car has a unique shoulder line which takes its inspiration from the wing-structure of a bat. The front-end design is inspired by the double-chevron logo and gives a new meaning to the brand identity."

“The overall design gives a fresh interpretation to the long-wheelbase super luxury sedan segment.”

“Since most high-end luxury cars are chauffer driven and carry a maximum of two passengers at the rear, this seating layout provides better space and luxury to the rear passengers ensuring immense leg-room without increasing the overall length of the car”.

"The rear wheels of the vehicle are individually attached to the body. This enables the vehicle to have a flat floor bed on the rear which further maximizes the interior space,"explains Ankit.

Ankit Prashar is an Indian National who has recently graduated as an Automotive Designer from the Coventry School of Art & Design. He also undertook the 1st year of the course at I.E.D, in Turin, Italy.

His past experience includes a 15-week placement at Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. He is currently looking for internship and freelance oppurtunities.
